Reda 1865
From Biella, Italy. Certified merino wool with traceable origin and an exceptionally pure, even yarn.
Drago
Also from Biella. Soft handle, modern colour palettes and an excellent ratio of weight to drape.
Drapers
An Italian house with a broad range of business and travel qualities, including shape-retaining high-twist weaves.
Fabric know-how
Weight, weave, super number.
Weight
240–280g for summer, 280–320g year-round, 340g and above for winter fabrics and flannel.
Super number
It measures fibre fineness, not durability. For suits worn often, Super 110s to 130s is usually more sensible than Super 150s.
High-twist
Tightly twisted yarns: airy, shape-retaining and crease-resistant — ideal for travel and hot days.
Flannel and blends
Flannel for warmth and a quiet look, wool-linen and wool-silk for summer occasions with character.
FAQ
Questions about fabrics.
What does Super 120s or Super 150s mean?
The super number describes the fineness of the wool fibre. Higher numbers feel finer but are more delicate. For everyday wear, Super 110s to 130s is usually the smarter choice.
What fabric weight should I choose?
240–280g for summer, 280–320g year-round, 340g and above for winter and flannel. Heavier fabrics drape more quietly and crease less.
Which mills does DAMERAU SUITS work with?
Among others, Scabal from Belgium, Reda 1865 and Drago from Biella in Italy, and Drapers. All supply certified wool with traceable origin.
Can I see the fabrics at the atelier?
Yes. At your consultation in Fribourg all the swatch books are ready — fabric needs to be seen and felt; photos never capture handle and drape.
